IAG made a public offer for Aer Lingus (€1.4 billion ), Ireland's national airline. The transaction was complex, given the strategic importance of Aer Lingus to Ireland, and as well as the normal financial and shareholder issues, the concerns of employees, pensioners and government. Goodbody advised IAG in relation to all these matters. IAG ownership has subsequently enabled substantial growth at Aer Lingus, with feeder traffic from Europe and Asia being routed though Dublin into its expanding Ireland-US network.
